Thanksgiving in Arkansas

Cheeseball here does in fact have this much fun playing at grandma and grandpas.

She thought this upside down stool was a car. :)

Nothing beats the bond of 19 month old cousins. It's only taken until now for them to even realize they like each other. All that matters is that this weekend they fell in love.  They held hands on walks, found each others pasies, shared toys, and each found that the other was super funny.  Noncompeting toddlers makes for more peaceful family time and less wine needed after they went to bed.

Nothing says a holiday get together at the Suggs without arts and crafts. If you think the house on the left is missing some candy, you might be right. Meredith was eating the candy faster than Kate could put it on the house.

Notice the only picture I got of the guys was on their way out the door. At every given opportunity, ninja Chris and Matt went fly fishing. Not complaining because their moods improve dramatically when they go fishing.

Love the little things

I'm really only posting this blog so I can go back and read it later when I need to smile. So I can remember the little giggle that turned into a whine and then a down right cry. So I can remember looking around the room and then finally spotting the little white keds sticking out. See it's working. I'm laughing :)

So this morning, like all mornings, I was hollering at Hadley to find her pasi and get her blanki because we needed to leave. I didn't hear her so I assumed she was doing as she was told. (yeah right)  I was standing in front of my closet picking out my clothes. Yes, my closet is in Hadley's room. When I turned around, I couldn't find her. My eyes darting this way and that trying to figure where the heck Hadley went when I saw her little white shoes barely sticking out from under the bed skirt of her crib!! She had taken Pee-A-Boo to a whole new level this morning. Before you know it, we will be playing flash light tag throughout the neighborhood. Her cute little snicker/giggle quickly turned into a cry when she realized she didn't know how to get out from under the crib. I'm guessing H had crawled on her stomach and once she was under the crib, she sat up because when I saw her feet she was sitting up. She couldn't figure out that she needed to lay back on her stomach to get out!

I know that I blog like a first time mom and I use exclamation marks like a first time mom and I'm okay with all of it. This is for my purposes anyway. And I just can't get enough of the little things!

15 months

Hadley's growing so so fast. She has really started to develop into a little person with a big personality.  We went for a check up today and she weighed in at 19 lbs 15 ounces and she is 29 inches long. We need to fatten her up a bit but it's hard. She burns it off so quickly. I'm not worried. The chick eats constantly. Had keeps us entertained ALL the time. She loves to read to herself and to us. She can say a handful of simple words and she understands a lot of what we say. It's a bit helpful in the morning when I ask her to bring me her shoes, she does and it's ALWAYS a matching pair. I was unaware kids her age could match the shoes like that. It may not match her outfit, but I let her wear them anyway because I think it's cute that she picks them out. We've done away with the B O T T L E. We've made sure those bad boys are no where to be found. She quite cold turkey, which I truly didn't intend for her to do. We were going to slowly start taking away the morning bottles first and then the night bottles. Until, one day I realized that I had forgotten to give her a bottle in two days. I had just been giving her milk in her cup and hadn't noticed the forgotten bottles. So, we went with it and she hasn't had a bottle since. Seems to be okay so far. The pasi is a whole different subject that will not be addressed anytime soon. I probably think about the pasi's more than she does because I don't want to hang out with her when she wants it and doesn't have it. Bad Bad Bad. Everything else is about the same. The pictures posted are just some randomers around the house. We haven't really done much lately because I refuse to melt walking to my car to go anywhere. Oh Fall, how I long for your cool breeze. :)

Strep

One can remember the last time they were too ill to eat much for a week. One can also remember being pretty hungry once they felt better. If you're 14 months old it looks a little like this...

Still a little tired and grumpy but sooo hungry!! Thank goodness that was last week and this is a new week and we are all a little happier.

4th festivities

We always spend the 4th a.k.a Matt's bday in Calico Rock, AR. The men fish and the women visit. Every 4th we enjoy a brilliant display of fireworks from the guys. And it does get better and better each year due to our requested favorites. The picture below is a picture of the Texas Sugg's scenic backyard in which this brilliant display takes place.

These two chicks were troopers. Here they are patiently waiting for it to get a little darker for our fireworks.

You'll have to join us next year to see the fireworks cuz I got nothin' to show you. It was a great show!
Happy times and Happy 31st Matt!

Tuttle, OK

Hadley spent 4 days at her great-grandparents in Oklahoma last week. If Had could talk, she would probably tell you it was the greatest 4 days of her 13 month existence. There is nothing but backyard, swimming, and adoring great-family members in Tuttle. The perfect place for our little outside, active baby. A typical day went as follows, pre-breakfast banana on the back porch, playing outside, fried egg and toast breakfast, swimming or playing in the water hose, lunch, nap, snack outside on the porch, dirt playing, swimming, playing outside, dinner, bed! The only thing I would change would be to hire a chauffeur to drive Hadley the 8 hours there and 8 hours back. And I don't mean my mother! :) I'm pretty sure she wouldn't do it for a million bucks next year anyway.

aren't great grandpapas the best

Lucky's pool that Had officially declared hers

the dog,Lucky, is the neighborhood dog who spends most of her time with my grandparents; Hadley loved throwing the ball to Lucky even though it maybe went two feet and Lucky, sweet dog, would pick it up and run away so Hadley would have to chase her

freezing cold well water

This day last year

Last Mother's Day, I weighed about a million pounds, couldn't see my feet and had major kankles. Matt got up early to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast and I had eaten them all by the time he sat down to join me. I was practically a mother on the account of carrying around extra LBs, had a basketball under my shirt and was exactly one day from delivering an unnamed baby girl. It's amazing the difference a year can make. I, now, have a walking, noise making, busy, happy, healthy, Hadley who will be 1 on Tuesday! The joys of watching her grow this past year have truly taught me lessons I never thought I'd learn. Happy Mother's day to all you other moms!

A special happy goes to my mom for getting one of the most distracting toys for Hadley to play with. My parents bought her a plastic car last weekend and she hasn't stopped driving, riding, or pushing buttons since.

Yes. Hadley is talking on her cell phone.
